Summary:

At East River Medical Imaging, our mission is to consistently provide the highest quality and availability of diagnostic imaging with compassion and comfort for our patients. Each of our physicians is certified by the American Board of Radiology. Together, they represent all areas of sub-specialty medical imaging, including cross-sectional, musculoskeletal, oncologic and neuroradiology. We are currently seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to expand the capabilities of the ERMI practice by providing certain radiologic services and offering specific expertise in assisting ERMI’s team of radiologists. PAs can be successful in offering exceptional patient care by completing the following duties.

Duties

?

  • Work collaboratively with radiologists, nurses, technologists, and care coordinators to ensure optimal patient care and proper communication.

  • Report to and follow the directions of ERMI radiologists.

  • Conduct physical examination of patients appropriately for present medical concern and health history.

  • Perform routine interventional radiology procedures (port-a-cath placement, permcath placement, paracentesis, certain biopsies and drainages, IVC filter placement/retrieval, etc.).

  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures (ultrasounds, X-Rays including fluoroscopy, etc.) under radiologist supervision.

  • Assist with more complex interventional radiology, diagnostic imaging, and nuclear medicine procedures as necessary.

  • Make sure procedures align with patient health history and present concerns.

  • Perform patient consultations.

  • Provide doctors with personal evaluations of images and lab results, contributing to their own analyses, when needed.

  • Order diagnostic laboratory results and other radiology tests.

  • Appropriately and accurately add procedure, treatment, and result information to patient charts.

  • Arrange follow-up appointments for patients as needed.

  • Obtain informed consent from patients for all procedures.

  • Ensure all patients are informed on post-procedure treatment and care.

  • Strictly execute HIPAA procedures and policies.

  • Make referrals for future care of patients.

  • Facilitate a rapid care response in case of an emergency.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge/skills by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and performing requirements of maintaining all licenses/certificates.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's or master's degree in physician assistant studies; 1+ year of experience in a radiology practice or hospital setting; completed radiologist assistant training or radiologic technologist training.

Skills:?

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft OS.

  • Strong working knowledge of New York City medical health and safety protocols.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret basic medical images and lab results.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of radiology technology equipment (X-Ray machines, MRI scanner, ultrasound machine, CT scanner, etc).

  • Sharp hand-eye coordination.

  • Deep understanding of medical imaging modalities.

  • Familiarity with radiology computer systems (RIS/PACS or equivalent).

  • Clinical reasoning skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to read and work with medical record data.

  • Committed to building on medical knowledge and to continue learning on the job.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public in English. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.

Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Word, word processing software; MS Excel spreadsheet software; Database software. Experience using digital medical record software.

Certificates and Licenses:

NYS licensure and NCCPA certification required. CBRPA certificate preferred. BLS or BCLS certification preferred.
